Press Release: Visma buys Kapacity

One of the leading IT companies in the Nordic region, Visma, which has made several remarkable acquisitions in the Danish market in recent years, is once again strengthening its position. With the acquisition of the business analytics consulting firm Kapacity, the group is strengthening its competence palette in disciplines such as business intelligence and advanced analytics, while also being better positioned to serve large private sector companies.

Visma, which is particularly known in Denmark for software solutions for payroll and accounting such as Visma Business, Dinero, e-conomic, DataLøn, and MultiLøn, is acquiring a majority stake in the consulting firm Kapacity, which has grown from 2 to 85 employees in just 10 years. Kapacity specializes in business analytics, cloud-based business intelligence, and advanced analytics disciplines such as machine learning and big data, primarily serving larger private companies.

»Business intelligence  has long been part of the palette at Visma Consulting, where we have a department that primarily serves customers in the public sector. Now we get access to a large nationwide team of leading specialists, and that depth is interesting«, says Torben Ryttersgaard, CEO of Visma Consulting A/S, who also acknowledges that Kapacity has many interesting customers in the private sector, including large companies such as Maersk Tankers, Aller Media, and BESTSELLER.

At Kapacity, where revenue has grown by approximately 64% over the last three years to DKK 77 million, while net income has grown 45% to more than DKK 7 million after tax, they also see great potential in the new owners, who can assist with continued growth, as there is a strong match between the two companies, according to CEO Philip Lykke Christensen.

Furthermore, Visma Consulting is among the leading actors within the public sector here in Denmark, while we primarily serve larger private companies«he says, referring to the fact that they will now also bid on the large public projects, which is an obvious growth market for the company.

A deal is a deal

According to Philip Lykke Christensen, their success is primarily due to two things: »We have always lived and delivered according to our mantra Quality, Integrity, Kapacity - which means that a deal is a deal, and our customers can expect our honest advice without a lot of sales talk«, he says.

Secondly, they continuously invest in competence development in the latest technologies, so that employees are at the forefront of the market in terms of both technologies, solutions, and platforms.

»We always work with 3-4 so-called labs areas where we invest both time and resources in technologies that we have high expectations for in the future. This way, we are at the forefront of the market when the technologies and demand mature," he explains and continues: "Our employees are among the most skilled in the industry, which has been recognized several times by both Microsoft, TARGIT, and IBM - we are insanely proud of that«.

Back at Visma Consulting in Lyngby, they are of course impressed by the growth of Kapacity, which they call a top-tier company, and they have great confidence that the company can continue its impressive performance with Visma as a shareholder.

Since we have long wanted to expand our capacity in business intelligence, and Kapacity is considered among the absolute leaders in the field, it is safe to say that we are very satisfied with the acquisition«, concludes Torben Ryttersgaard, who sees the future synergies between Kapacity and Visma Consulting.

Visma Consulting acquires 60% of the shares in Kapacity, which will continue as an independent company under its current management and retain its offices in Kolding, Aarhus and Copenhagen. Torben Ryttersgaard joins the board of directors of Kapacity.
